Today, a press conference was held on the occasion of the presentation of two new players of Istra 1961, namely the returning Matej Vuk and Darwin Matheus. The sports director, Mr. Saša Bjelanović, and team manager Goran Roce also attended the conference.

Good day everyone, nice to see you here at the winter transfer window. We managed to bring in two new players. You already know one of them, Matej Vuk, whom we wanted to bring over the summer, but here he is now. That already tells you about the qualities we recognized in him, and he is now a player that Istra can count on for a long period of time, in addition – his characteristics will definitely help us. On the other side, we have Darwin Matheus, a young Venezuelan player who comes from Atalanta’s second team – an offensive player who can cover multiple attacking positions. He is very good in smaller spaces, technically sound, he is especially good at attacking and playing forward. Both of them signed contracts for a longer period, and we count on them to justify the trust we have in them, said Mr. Bjelanović.

Hello everyone, I’m Matej Vuk! The position of winger and “No 10” behind the point guard suits me best. I’m really glad to have come here and my personal goal is to play well and be happy with my performances. I’m turning a new page by coming here and after the break my confidence hasn’t dropped, and I think I’ll be fully ready by the start of the championship. I missed football and when I stepped on the pitch on Saturday I felt as happy as a child. I understand from the coach what he wants and slowly adopt his vision, and otherwise I like that “Spanish” style of football with a lot of passing, creating space and the like. Everyone in the team accepted me immediately, both old and new faces, and I feel as if I never left! My goal is to be as good as possible game by game and to train hard, and the result will follow, said Matej.

Greetings to those present! I came here to progress as a player and to present myself in Croatia and in European football. I believe that I can help the team achieve the best possible results in the continuation of the championship. This is my first time in Europe, and here in the club it is positive that the coach, part of the staff and some players are from the Spanish-speaking area, since I am still learning English. The team seems to me to be organized on the field and they play high-intensity football, which I like very much. My goal is to achieve consistency in my performances on the field and to show myself in the best possible light and also to help the team in any way I can, said Darwin at the conference.
