We signed two new scholarship contracts with extremely talented young goalkeepers – Carlo Jurak, who is officially a member of the junior team, and Marko Juršić, an outgoing cadet. On the occasion of Carl Jurak’s return to Istra from HNK Rijeka, the extension of the contract with the talented Marko Juršić, and the arrival of the new goalkeeper’s manager – our sports development coordinator, Andro Fistonić, gave his insight:
First, we solved the position of goalkeeper coordinator, and then the scholarships for the goalkeepers themselves. The new player development structure in the youth school will include four coordinators, one of whom will be in the position of goalkeeper coordinator. Mr. Goran Vujica is the new goalkeeper coordinator – we recognized in him an extremely motivated and meticulous person, with a clear vision of youth development. Mr. Vujica, along with his team of coaches Blaž Bugarin and Bruno Gebenar, and cooperation with Tihomir Bulat from the senior team, has complete autonomy in the implementation, selection and development of the work program of young goalkeepers. In addition to independent work, Mr. Vujica also takes responsibility for the system to develop the maximum potential of each goalkeeper of the club.
In the following, Mr. Vujica will state:
I returned to Istra because the preconditions for a step forward in a quality goalkeeper development program have been created, with the hope that he will fulfill his full potential. I believe that we have got professional people in the club who can implement an excellent sports development strategy. Furthermore, Carlo is a child of the club, he returned from Rijeka, which is currently first in the table, and is recognized as a goalkeeper with potential who, with a quality work program and coordination, we can develop to compete in the senior team! Also, we extended Marko’s contract because he shows the potential to be competitive in the senior team as a goalkeeper one day as well. Both of them were also, with the consent of coach Bulat, attending the senior team’s winter preparations. Carlo will be the 4th goalkeeper of the senior team this spring, while Marko will be involved in training at the invitation of coach Bulat. We are very satisfied with the progress!
Carlo Jurak commented on the new contract:
During the recent changes in the club, there was a mutual interest in my return to Istra. Mr. Fistonić and Mr. Vujica presented me with a future development path to fulfill my potential, which made me interested in returning to my beloved club. I would like to thank you for the opportunity and I hope to return it in the best possible way!
