A press conference was held today to introduce the new coach of Istra 1961. The press conference was attended by the club president, Mr. Branko Devide Vincenti, sports director, Mr. Saša Bjelanović and head coach, Mr. Goran Tomić.
– It is a great pleasure for me to welcome coach Tomić back to our club. We are extremely pleased that we have managed to bring Mr. Tomić, he is an established name in the world of football. We believe that Mr. Tomić and his football philosophy are fully compatible with the vision and strategy of our club. We are truly very happy that he is here with us. We wish him and his staff the best of luck in their work, I believe that we will achieve mutual success in the coming seasons, said the club president, Mr. Branko Devide Vincenti.
– The new season started for us the day after the previous one ended. We had to find a new coach and it was absolutely not an easy story, but my choice from the very beginning was Goran Tomić, whom I have known for a long time. I have to say that I tried to bring him in from the first day, it wasn’t easy right away, we had to agree on some things, but I think Goran is an exceptionally good person, a good friend, which is also important in this business, but above all a person who managed to recognize his ambition in what we want. I think it was the ambition of the club that helped us bring Goran in. I consider him to be one of the best coaches on the market at the moment, and I really think that the arrival of the coach is a new confirmation that the ownership structure and everyone in this club want to make a step forward, to continue all the good things that have been happening in recent months, to build a strong Istria step by step. Now it’s up to us to give him the maximum opportunity to go in that direction, and it’s up to him and his staff to achieve that through daily work with the players. We are eagerly awaiting the start of training, friendly matches and the championship, I am convinced that Istria is on the right track this year as well, says sports director Mr. Saša Bjelanović.
